A day in the life
As an academically selective school we know your child is capable of being challenged intellectually. By attending BKHS they will have the confidence and capabilities to channel that intellect to become the future leaders of society with the social awareness to lead with compassion.
Small class sizes and high academic standards means teachers can draw the very best out of your child. A wide range of subjects are taught by passionate specialist teachers. Every pupil learns differently, so we use a mix of traditional and innovative teaching methods.
Building on a rich sporting heritage, a principal aim of our sports department is to enable more pupils to play more sports, at every level. With so many sports to choose from, your child can participate in rugby, cricket and netball through to yoga, wall climbing and water polo in our onsite swimming pools. The majority of co-curricular activities take place on site at the superb specialist facilities. We build a love of physical activity that will stay with pupils well after leaving School, encouraging them to lead active lives in the future.
BKHS has vibrant music and drama departments with a full programme of performances, lessons, trips, masterclasses, outreach projects, and tours. Our music capabilities are second to none/set us apart and are often a contributing factor for parents when they chose BKHS.
Leadership is an important skill to prepare your child for the future. We provide leadership opportunities for every year group, for example through the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, peer mentoring, student ambassadors, our prefect system and in sport. The Student Council also provides the pupils' voice when discussing important issues that will shape the School.
